12 May Why Surya Namaskar?
We live in a world of instant gratification, where everything demands to have been completed yesterday and results should have been produced today. We always look for quicker yet more efficient ways to accomplish our goals. Often, life seems to be on a fast track with no speed limit. We tend to read a short synopsis over reading an entire book. We prefer single-line instant messages over long emails. Therefore, it is not a surprise that we expect fast results with our workout routine, too. Yoga doesn’t disappoint us; especially Surya Namaskar, also known as the Poornasan (complete asan), gives us all the benefits we can get out of the Yogic system. In other words, if you do not have the time to learn the entire science of Yoga, just learn Surya Namaskar and you are all set! Here is why you should make this simple set of 12 steps, a part of your daily routine.
Achieve weight loss
If it is done at a fast pace, it is very effective in reducing the weight around your waistline and in toning your arms and thighs. With regular practice, you will find that the sweet tooth, which was bothering all along, is lost and you automatically start choosing the right kind of foods for your body.
Improve heart health
It is a great cardiovascular workout. The rhythmic breathing that accompanies the 12 steps improves blood circulation and all parts of the body are evenly oxygenated.
Reduce anxiety
Surya Namaskar has a wonderful effect on the activity of the endocrine system and thyroid glands. It balances the hormones and improves the functioning of the nervous system, in effect calming the entire body.
Be more efficient
This technique improves your mental clarity and executive functioning. It improves blood circulation to the brain, thereby building new neural pathways to function more efficiently in difficult and demanding situations.
Develop humbleness
As you do regular practice, you will notice that when you do the salutation with the eight points of your body (Ashtanga Namaskar), you connect with the Earth better. You will surrender all your problems in the lap of Mother Earth like a baby and feel completely accepted. You will feel humbled by love and empowered by strengthening your roots.
Without further ado, roll out your Yoga mat, turn on your favorite music, and start your practice of Surya Namaskar!
Join us for a day of Yoga on June 18th to learn the right breathing techniques that go along with it, to maximize results.

As we perform theses asanas our awareness is turned inwards and at the same time our innate connection with nature is strengthened. Posted at 17:58h, 13 JuneI agree with you Sandeep Ji, if our body is sickly or weak, we will not only not be able to do our worldly duties, but cannot focus on spirituality either.

Posted at 06:37h, 17 JuneSurya Namaskar calms the mind and helps improves concentration. If done fast, it provides a good cardiovascular workout. If done at a slower pace, these postures help tone the muscles and can relax the system.
Awesome way to keep us charged.
